Donald Hendricks, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years old surrounded by family.
Don's loved ones have celebrated his memory, legacy, and life privately.
Don was born in July of 1935, in Moline, IL to Aloysius and Helen (Hunting) Hendricks. As a young man Don enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and enrolled at Iowa State University, earning his PhD in Industrial Engineering. Shortly after graduation he was offered a position as a professor with Iowa State and taught for over 30 years until his retirement.
Don is survived by his wife Kathryn Moody-Hendricks of 50 years, his adult children and grandchildren.
Don was a talented contractor and was known for his skills in remodeling and building projects. He enjoyed spending time outside; specifically, time at the family lake house in Clear Lake, IA. He cherished his time spent at the lake with his family; skiing, boating, and sitting by the water. He was an avid racquetball player and advanced downhill skier. Most importantly, Don loved his family and time spent together was the highlight of his life. Don will be missed.

I’m so sorry for your loss of Don. He was a wonderful person and so calm. Always seem to have a smile. He enjoyed his coffee group, going down to Texas to see Maria’s family. When Kirk was in High school he was excited he played football. Spoke about Ty with his job working around the airplanes. He just enjoyed good conversations. I’m so honored to have met him and Kate he really loved you. Both were a wonderful couple!! He will be greatly missed! My heart goes out to the family.

I am sorry for your loss. I met Don early in my career when he was consulting at the Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS). Over course of the project we met at the M Shop, spoke a lot on the phone, got together for a beer on Main Street and he even met my girlfriend (now wife). I was struck by how approachable, practical and down to earth Don was. I am grateful to have met him and for the impact he had on me.
