Shirley Mae Hiatt (formerly Myers) of Nevada, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2022.

Shirley was the mother of three and the central strength of her family. She is survived by her oldest daughter, Diana Stensland, and her second child, Lori Pfantz, while preceded in death by her son Donald Desher II. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Desher in 1965 and beloved husband of 50+ years, Larry Hiatt, on Thanksgiving night of 2021.
She was known as Shirley, Squaw, Ma, Mom, and Grandma Great by her family. She loved road trips and travel, reading, attending her great-grandkid's sporting events, and rising early for coffee to enjoy the day, but nothing more than her family. She adored her 11 grandkids, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa, and will be greatly missed, though we are happy we will rejoin her and Larry in heaven someday.

When growing up in Nevada Shirley always welcome me into her home. I stayed many nights there with my best friend Diana. Later in years when I saw her she always remembered me and we would chat. My condolences to her family.
