John Render, 66, of Marshalltown, formerly of Chicago, IL and Fort Madison, IA passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
John's wishes were to be cremated and private burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
John Render was born April 17, 1956, in Chicago, IL to William and Juanita (Stoltie) Render. He grew up in Fort Madison where he received his education. Following graduation, John proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served five years, including a tour in South Korea. John made his career working in food service as a butcher, army cook, and later cooking at a retirement facility in the Chicago area. He also worked as a limousine driver and was always helpful with directions prior to Google.
John was an avid sports fan. He could most frequently be heard rooting for the Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Chiefs and pulling for NASCAR driver, Kevin Harvick.
John is survived by his sister, Ellen (Kurt) Hoffmeister; and nieces, Kirsten Hoffmeister, Alyssa Hoffmeister, and Trisha Render. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Paul Render.
So sorry to hear of John’s passing. He and I had some great times together back in the 80s in Fort Madison.
