Carroll F. Kotouc, age 88, of Nevada, Iowa, died at his home on Thursday, June 9, 2022.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, 1036 7th Street, Nevada, IA 50201, with Pastor Mike G. Carey officiating. Memorial visitation will begin one hour prior to services. Condolences may be expressed online at www.amesmonument.com.


Born September 12, 1933, in rural Dysart, Iowa, Carroll Frank Kotouc was the son of Rudolf and Ella (Ohlsen) Kotouc. He graduated from LaPorte City High School, then earned his bachelor's degree from Iowa State University in 1956.

On June 10, 1956, Carroll was united in marriage to Barbara Dickerson at the United Methodist Church in Garrison, Iowa. The couple lived in several Iowa towns, including Farnhamville and West Liberty, before settling in Nevada in 1972. They were blessed with three children, Jim, Eva, and Jason.
Carroll taught school for many years and later worked in sales. He is survived by his children, Jim (Evelyn) Kotouc of Nevada, Eva Slaybaugh of Lenox, and Jason Kotouc of Ames; four grandchildren, Zachary (Christina) Kotouc, Seth Kotouc, Catherine (Dan) Kramer, and Brandy Slaybaugh; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Kotouc, Samuel Kotouc, and Jenna Slaybaugh.

Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in 2018; two infant daughters; his parents; and a brother, Nile Kotouc.

Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Carroll and his family.
