Nancy Kay Weber was born October 4, 1962, and was welcomed home by Clarence and Doris (Leland) Ness. She grew up in Huxley, Iowa, where she graduated from Ballard High School in 1981, then earned her associate degree at DMACC.
In 1986, Nancy was married to Jeff Braland in Huxley. The couple was blessed with four children, Tyler, Nick, Lyndsey and Logan. Nancy and Jeff raised their family in Ames, Iowa, where Nancy provided in-home daycare for countless families over the course of many years.
In 2002, she married Brian Weber and was blessed with a daughter, Maddie. Nancy made her home in Ankeny in 2012, and again provided childcare in her home. She also worked part-time at Edencrest at Siena Hills. The bonds she forged with the many families she served brought much joy into her life.
Nancy loved the company of her family. Her most cherished moments were found in everyday life, making memories with her parents, children and grandchildren. Her favorite things included shopping, playing with her three dogs, friendships, spending time outdoors, and making her house a home, especially during the holidays.
Survivors include her four children, Tyler (Ashlee) Braland of Ames, Nick Braland and fiancée Andrea Stern of Ames, Lyndsey (Chase) Haselhoff of Ames, and Maddie Weber of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Brynna and Brooks Braland; a brother, Alan (Carla) Ness of Marion; three nephews and their families, Josh (Liza) Ness, Justin (Christy) Ness, and Jordan Ness; as well as other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Logan Braland; and her parents, Clarence and Doris Ness.

Nancy was an amazing caretaker for our son Myles and truly loved our whole family like her own. I loved going to pick up Myles every day because we’d share stories about our day and talk about our home remodeling projects we were doing. Nancy was a wonderful person and we will all miss her dearly.

Nick, Tyler, Lyndsey and Maddie. I’m so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the sorrow and emptiness you are feeling. . Nick, I know Bryan spent a lot of time at your house as an infant and all through grade school. Your mom was always so welcoming and who can forget the smile she always had on her face. Hopefully knowing how much everyone loved your mom will help you all through these difficult times. John and I are keeping all
of you in our thoughts and prayers. .
Nancy, was like our family. Brayden and Levi absolutely adored her. She treated them as one of her own and will be terribly missed. We are thinking of you Maddie.
Those of us who have been so close to Nancy have aching hearts for her leaving us but just think of the thrills her family are having in heaven to welcome her! I hope the family will hold that knowledge in your hearts!
I am so deeply sad to hear this. Nancy was such a great care taker. Loralei had many friends at daycare and I know she was loved. The world was definitely a better place with Nancy in it.
