Miguel Garcia-Rondon, age 67, of Ames, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, of injuries sustained in a car accident in Madrid, Iowa.

Born January 20, 1952, in Camaguey, Cuba, Miguel was one of fourteen children born to Timoteo and Juana (Rondon-Basulto) Garcia Conseugra. He grew up in Cuba and in 1980, came to the United States. He lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota before making his home in Ames. Miguel married Katherine Penkava on August 17, 2002, and settled in Nevada, Iowa, where he was employed at Buckaroos, Inc. In 2012, the couple moved back to Ames.
Miguel enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing pool. His family, especially his five grandchildren, was his main priority.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine; two daughters, Mercedes (Ashley) Garcia-Rondon of Dubuque, and Joanna (Michael Matlage) Garcia-Rondon of Ames; five grandchildren, Aria Garcia-Rondon, Waylon Matlage, Roman Garcia-Rondon, Jackson Matlage, and River Garcia-Rondon; and one sister.
Miguel was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sister.
Ames Monument and Cremation Service of Ames has been entrusted with the care of Miguel and his family.
I have fond memories of Miguel from my childhood. I am blessed for having known him and being able to have memories to share with my wonderful niece and great-nephew! Peace and blessings.
